Artist In Residence ~ Edisto Beach State Park, Day 1

May 12, 2015  •  1 Comment

With lots of encouraging from a few close friends last fall, I applied for the South Carolina State Park Artist in Residence Program.  By the end of the year (2014) my hopes dwindled .... no word of acceptance or denial.  Then the thin envelope came and my heart was in my stomach like it was a million dollar letter just waiting to be opened.

I'm sure anyone watching really wondered about me as I did the Happy Dance right there at the mail box!

So now it's time for the adventure to begin!

We're Here!...  McKinley Washington Jr Memorial Bridge - the 3rd edition of bridges allowing access to Edisto Island in South Carolina.  The first bridge was a single lane manual bridge built in 1920 followed by a two lane electrically  powered swing bridge in 1950.  The new bridge was dedicated on Sept 25, 1993.

Being a beach loving gal, it was off to see the ocean just as soon as the car was parked.

The low tide provided supper for these little wading birds.... Bottom's Up!

And a couple more around the area looking for their supper...

The end of the short afternoon of day one,
watching the bright sun set over the marsh lands...
More adventures to follow...

Love all the photos, especially the shot of the birds walking on the beach in somewhat a line.
